It is a shame that in a first world country, that sts as its capital one of the most liveable cities i the world, that we still can’t get anywhere near making justice available for all:
Legal Aid lawyers have had to stop working on matters no longer within the funding guidelines and turn new clients away. The annual report showed it had delivered 10 per cent fewer grants of legal assistance and about 14 per cent fewer duty lawyer services this financial year. Freedom of Information documents last month revealed more than 8000 people were expected to miss out on legal assistance this year.
Maybe in 2014, our government allocate more resources to this very important public function, making justice available to all and not just to the wealthy.
